The World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting Brněnská laťka Olympia in golden shine!!

The athletes at the 29th edition of Brněnská laťka Olympia produced absolutely unbelievable performances. The large field only began to split above the 190 cm mark, as an incredible six jumpers cleared this height—and the top favorite, world champion **Nicola Olyslagers**, chose it as her opening height. No one was stopped by 190 cm, and at the next height, **193 cm**, all remaining athletes cleared it as well. It was already clear that the packed grandstand was about to witness the best competition in the history of Brněnská laťka.

The next height, **196 cm**, brought excellent jumping, but two athletes still had to say goodbye to the competition. Sharing 5th place were **Imke Onnen** of Germany and the surprise of the meet, **Buse Savaskan** of Turkey, who leaves Olympia with a personal best.

Four high jumpers remained at the world-class height of **196 cm**. On their first attempts, the height was cleared by both world champions **Nicola Olyslagers**, the superbly jumping **Eleanor Patterson**, and last year’s winner from Great Britain, **Morgan Lake**, who ultimately finished in 4th place. A huge surprise were the jumps by **Yuliia Levchenko** of Ukraine, who joined the two Australians and the Brit with a successful third attempt—so the drama continued at the incredible height of **198 cm**.

The absolute global star and unbeaten athlete this season, **Nicola Olyslagers**, passed 198 cm. At this height, a major surprise occurred when **Yuliia Levchenko** cleared it on her third attempt with an unbelievable margin and suddenly moved into the lead. The excellently jumping Eleanor knocked the bar off three times very lightly, and it was clear she would have to wait for her compatriot’s attempts to determine the final placings.

Levchenko rode an incredible wave and her attempts at the very edge of world elite level looked highly promising—but unfortunately were unsuccessful. Everyone then waited to see how Nicola Olyslagers would handle the height, and when the bar fell on her first two attempts, it seemed Yuliia might take the win from Brno. But on her third attempt, Nicola showed extraordinary strength and cleared **2.00 m** with a huge margin—making it clear she would take her second victory in Brno.

She then logically set a new Brněnská laťka Olympia meeting record on the uprights: **204 cm**, matching her personal best. On her second attempt she got incredibly high and only brushed the bar off very lightly.

In the finale, all the high jumpers created an amazing atmosphere and the crowd thoroughly enjoyed it. **Tereza Durďáková** did an absolutely fantastic job throughout the girls’ entire stay in the international event. **Tamara Balajová** appeared for the first time in the role of meet manager and showed very strong skills in the position. Within his time options, the experienced manager **Zdeněk Šimon** also helped. Of course, the whole group of helpers led by **David Janák**—and also sincere thanks to some parents who joined in with the clean-up—deserves huge praise for the work done. My former athlete and now also coach **Eliška Buchlovská** fit into the whole machine perfectly and also deserves major recognition.
